How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
Over 13 years, I was inspired by a friend who was doing mortgages part time and said that I would be great for this! I really love helping people buy a home or refinance to save money.

What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
When buying your first home, be realistic about your monthly obligations and income. Take into consideration all expenses. For instance if you’re buying a condo, there are association fees on top of the mortgage payment. If you are buying a single family, you are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance. I understand the excitement of buying your first home and wanting it all, however, in the long run, you will be better off being conservative and finding a home you love.

What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
The paperwork. Most people can’t believe how much a lender needs; these days its all about the 3 C’s (Credit, Collateral, and Capacity). This is why there are a lot of documents required. I help them through it by requesting and reviewing all the documents up front. Also, I am proactive and am willing to call a client’s accountant or such to get documents if the borrowers don’t have.

What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1.)We are still lending, 2.) We are still lending, 3.) You don’t have to have perfect credit or a large down payment to buy a home. Whether you are buying your first home, moving up, buying a second or vacation home or an investment property; even if you’re refinancing, there is a good chance we can get your loan done.

What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I love helping people fulfill the American Dream of owning their own home. I go to my closings and the look on a buyers face once they close is fulfilling. Many clients refer me their friends and family because I do such a good job for them and make the mortgage process quick and easy.
