Loan Officer Interview Q&A's

How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business for 21 years. My enjoyment for helping people inspired me to get into the mortgage industry. I have clients who I helped purchase their first home, refinance, purchase a vacation property, and even help their children purchase their first home. The relationships I have made while assisting my clients over the years are priceless.

How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
The biggest change since I first started in the mortgage industry is that borrowers are required to provide more documentation in order to qualify for a loan. I believe it is important to set expectations with my clients and inform them of what documents will be needed early in the loan process. I would expect this requirement to continue in the future and clients to be more accustomed to this change.

What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
The home loan process in general can be intimidating considering in most cases it is an individuals largest investment. Whether buying or refinancing a home it is important that the client be well informed. I pride myself is thoroughly educating my borrowers through each phase of the loan process. I have found through the years that an informed borrower is a happy borrower.

Are you active in any local associations or community groups, and at what level? What goals and/or success have you helped these groups achieve?
I am an active member of the community where I currently serve as Vice President of the Greater Hammonton Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Atlantic county Board of Ethics, and was a former Council Person for the town of Hammonton. I have also served as a member of numerous other boards including the Hammonton Education Foundation, and the Hammonton Little League. As a Town Council Person I was fortunate to be part of the implementation of a phased plan approach for much needed recreational improvement in our community.

Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
When I'm away from the office, I'm an avid sports fan and most of all, I'm very family oriented. My wife, Lori, and I enjoy vacationing and spending time visiting our son Rick Jr. who is currently an officer in the United States Navy.
