How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
Loan Officer Interview Q&A's
I entered into the mortgage industry in 1998 after 18 years of customer service and finance background. I find it very rewarding to work with clients in the most important personal financial transaction they will have in their lifetime. I always enjoy working with the clients from the opening conversation to start the application process to the very last step at the closing of their home loan. The biggest compliment I receive from my clients is the referrals to their family and friends.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
The best advise I can give to a first time home buyer is make all payments on time and to reduce their revolving credit card balances which will improve their credit scores. Your credit scores are one of the most important factors in finance.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
The most important thing a borrower can do to insure a smooth underwriting process is to make sure to give accurate and true statements at the time of the application. The underwriter depends on the buyers to painting a picture for each buyer's situations since everyone has different life events. During the mortgage process do not open or apply for any other credit lines. If there are any changes during the process make sure to advise your lender of them so that info won't come up at the last minute and effect the final underwriting decision.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I enjoy and receive the most satisfaction in working with each client to achieve their goal of home ownership and choosing the right loan program for their needs. It is my goal to earn 100% customer satisfaction and build a lifetime relationship with all my clients. The biggest compliment I can receive form my past client is a referral to another great client.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Along with being a mortgage originator, I spend a lot of my spare time with my family and friends enjoying the great outdoors riding ATV's, boating, hiking, winter sports and yes my favorite thing barbecuing.
