Loan Officer Interview Q&A's
26 years. My father was in the business and gave me the opportunity. I immediately loved how rewarding it was to help people with the home buying process. 26 years later I love what I do even more.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
The mortgage industry has come full circle over the past 26 years. We went from needing to verify all of the customers' info to not needing to verify anything in the early 2000's. Now we are back to needing to verify everything about a customer. The automated underwriting systems I think this is the best thing to happen to the mortgage industry. It provides loan officers the ability to give instant approval information that we didn't have before.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Provide all information that is requested of them. Provide that information in a timley manner. Refrain from making any purchase during the loan process. Try not to transfer money between accounts during the loan process.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy spending time with my 3 daughters and my wife. I am an avid triathlete and have completed 3 Ironman races and countless other triathlons.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I enjoy spending time with my family on the beach in Florida. I enjoy nice dinners and a good bottle of wine.
