Loan Officer Interview Q&A's

How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business for 6+ years serving clients all over California. I close an average of 30 million dollars in Mortgage Loans annually which allows me to help hundreds of home owners in their quest to save money on a refinance, purchase. I am very passionate about the mortgage business. I enjoy solving puzzles and this job constantly has new puzzles to solve. I also like meeting new people and the relationships I have developed with both clients and Realtors over the years. I get such satisfaction from this job especially when a client sends a picture of their new house or pictures of updates they have done or the new babies room etc… There are very few industries where you constantly are involved in someones big life moment. I feel really privileged to be a part of that.

What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
An ARM carries more risk but can have great short term financial rewards due to how low the rates are. This is especially true in the jumbo market where a 1% difference can save the borrower 10k or more a year in interest. Fixed-rate mortgages offer rate and payment security, which can be the right way to go if you expect to stay in the home for an extended period of time. Bottom line there are pros and cons to both and with the right information, whether it is a refinance or a new home purchase, I can help my customers pick the best mortgage that meets their financial goals.

Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I grew up in Southern California with 4 sisters. I went to Corona Del Mar high school and attended University Of California Santa Barbara. After college I came to Sonoma County to help with my Father’s Winery. I now live in Sonoma County with my son, Jack.

Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I am an avid traveler. I have closed loans while working from close to all 50 states and a few countries. I am a strong believer in “breaking the box” and feel that nothing is impossible. With enough hard work and persistence anything can be accomplished.
