How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business for 20 years. I got into it right after graduating from ISU in 1996.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
There is no such thing as a "typical customer" I believe that every customer is different depending on their short and long term financial goals
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I ask many questions about what is important to them. And then I ask again!
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
I have been in the mortgage business for 20 years now. In 2006 I was awarded "Loan Officer Of The Year"
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
Not long ago, I had a client that was turned down by their local bank for a mortgage loan due to a large, outstanding collection that was on their credit. After assisting them with getting a "payment plan" set up with this creditor, we were successful at getting them approved and to the closing table even when the collection had a significant outstanding balance!
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
The initial loan application typically seems to be the toughest part. It can sometimes be difficult for borrowers to understand just how much documentation may be needed to get their file into underwriting. This is why I feel that it is crucial for the Loan Officer to go over what is needed from them in great detail right from the start.
Are you active in any fundraising organizations? What goals and/or success have you helped them achieve?
I'm on the board for the "Tim Klotz memorial foundation". It is a non-for-profit organization that I have been a part of for over 16 years now that provides college scholarships to needy kids.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
