How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business 14 years. I was inspired to get into the mortgage business because I had just bought my first home and the person that helped us was little to no help. When this happened I saw an oppurtunity. I thought to myself imagine if someone actually took the time to help someone and explain the mortgage process to them so they could feel comfortable about what was going on and understand it a little better so if they hhad to do it again in would not be so intimadating. Thats how I got started
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My typical customer is someone looking to purchase a home. The most common question I hear is do you think I can get a loan.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I try to give my customers options to choose from. Its really important to give options but educate also so your customer can make an educated decision.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Buy what you are comfortable with. Just because you can qualify for more does not mean that\'s what you have to spend. Only you know what payment makes you comfortable.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
In my opinion customers really struggle with locking a rate. Everyone is afraid that things will get better after they lock. I try and tell my customers that they need to lock when they feel comfortable. Once this is done you no longer have to worry about it. You don\'t have to have long sleepless nights wondering when you should lock. Get a rate you are comfortable with and move on it. If you see things get substantially better mention it to your loan officer. Chances are he has already looked at renegotiating it for you.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I absolutely love calling and letting a client know when we have closed escrow. Its a great feeling.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Along with working in the mortgage industry for 14 years I am a proud father of 3 boys. They are 6,5 and 2. I coach baseball, soccer and I am involved at the school where my kids attend by giving classroom time once a week to both classes. Being involved with my kids always brings a smile to my face
