I’ve been originating mortgages since 2001. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than knowing I’ve helped my clients secure the financing they need to build their real estate portfolio while delivering the best possible terms.

Before becoming a mortgage originator, I worked in student lending and foreign exchange. How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I started originating mortgages in 2001 after I applied for a mortgage myself. I saw a real need to make the loan process more transparent and to help people emphasize their strengths as borrowers so they can qualify for the best loan programs.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
Credit is a major component that lenders look at when deciding whether to approve a loan or not. Over the years I have become an expert at helping people get their credit score up to the highest level possible. In many cases I have been able to increase a clients FICO score by 100 points or more. This helps ensure my clients get the best rates available.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
The key to a smooth transaction is working with someone who knows what the underwriters are looking for and to follow his or her advice. There are a lot of guidelines that do not make sense to someone who does not originate loans on a daily basis. Starting the pre-approval process early so that you understand your qualifications will allow you to come up with a plan to make sure you qualify for the best loan for your particular circumstances.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I enjoy working with my friends and making new friends. Almost all of my business comes from past clients and their referrals. I have seen many of my clients go from being single in a small TIC to having kids and upgrading to a larger house. I enjoy seeing how people change throughout the years and knowing that I have helped them in achieving their real estate goals.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I'm straight forward and say it like it is. I don't like to waste people's time. I try to make things as easy as I can for my clients. Most things these days can be done through email, secured folders, and phone calls. I have a lot of clients that I have known for more than 10 years and have had countless phone conversations with, but we have never met in person. Usually when we do meet, it is in a social setting that has nothing to do with getting a mortgage. It is always fun to make that connection. It is like seeing an old friend for the first time.
