How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I've been in the business for 22 years and my family lead the way.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
There is no typical customer, their needs are similar though. Save money and please take care of this for me. It can be overwhelming these days and I'm there to guide you through it. Hopefully with a couple laughs along the way.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
Simple, let them start talking, and work from there.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
Pros- fixed rate is a security plan and simple. ARM- Pros are that it is riskier but you suggest these programs based on the clients realistic time frame.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
Just closed last week, 60 days ago my client calls me Monday night for a pre-approval which goes to contact that night. My client is leaving the next day to South Africa for the next month and half. My team and I were able to receive conditions for a Wells Jumbo on Thursday morning and were clear by Thursday morning the next week. GR Closing Department was able to get the docs out and fund the deal later that afternoon.

How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
The Fax machine had just come out when I started, everything was paper files. It was the wild west. I was just entry level, and the VPs popped champaign because the 30 rate just broke under 10 LOL
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
At the very beginning of the process I try to explain the stages. But at the end of the conversation I add, but don't worry, I'll be touching base at each turn to guide you. For now, just keep your bank statement handy and pay stubs.

Racquet ball league. I've done probably about 20 deal over the last couple years from those contacts.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Talking to the client after a closing.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
Swimming, golfing racquetball and live music.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I have an Old Soul, a young heart and tons of gas left in the tank. I played on my school's basketball team and went 32-0 into the final game down state and lost. We are part of a 30 for 30 special on ESPN
