About Jonah

How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I've been in the industry for 14 incredibly rewarding years.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I get to know my clients and what is motivating their decision to buy or refinance their home, which allows me to find the perfect loan options to fit their needs.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
I have a box full of ceramic trophies and other awards that are nice but the letters, cards and phone calls of thanks from my clients are what I truly value.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
There is a sense of security that can't be measured in dollars that many of my clients feel when they get a 30-year fixed rate loan. When evaluating a client's loan options, we often find their goals are more in alignment with an ARM loan, which saves them a significant amount compared to a 30-year fixed.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
A wonderful client who owns their own business had an off year and their tax returns did not reflect their actual income. By spending the time to get to understand the clients business, I was able to explain to my underwriter and document how the borrowers income fit the lending guidelines.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Go see as many homes as possible that fit your price range.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
Our industry has gotten more transparent, which I think is wonderful and I see it becoming more consumer friendly.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
The timeline for closing can be challenging. Setting proper expectations is how we can best help our clients.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?

We are all on the same team, the quicker they can complete their role the quicker we can complete ours.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I genuinely enjoy helping people.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
Cycling and spending time with family are my two favorite things in the world.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I read at least 2 books a week and haven't owned a TV since 1994.
