Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I enjoy working with a variety of customers. Wilmington is a resort area as well as a college town with a University. I help people with their mortgage when purchasing a vacation home. I also work with parents buying an investment property to house their child while attending college. And many clients simply relocate here because of the quality of life Wilmington offers.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
First I determine what my customer's goal is, and how long they plan to stay in the property. Next I ask the customer a lot of questions so I have all the necessary details. And then I run different scenarios to get them the best loan product at the best rate.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
To get preapproved before going house-hunting. It is imperative to know how much you qualify for before you fall in love with a home only to find out you can't afford to buy it.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1. That their credit isn't good enough to qualify.
2. They need too much money for a down payment.
3. It takes too long and requires too much paperwork.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
There are several things borrowers can do to help insure that the mortgage underwriting process goes smoothly. Providing information in a timely manner and being sure they answer requests completely will greatly speed up the process. This enables the underwriter to provide loan approval so that a faster closing can be scheduled.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy outdoor activities, especially the beach, gardening and skiing. I like to travel and I enjoy gourmet foods!
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
As well as being a mortgage broker, I also have my real estate broker\'s license. I have a keen eye for what adds value to a home. I take pride in staying knowledgeable about all of the neighborhoods in the Wilmington market where my clients are purchasing or refinancing their homes. Something a lot of people don\'t know about me is I am an identical twin, and she is also my best friend.
