Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
Every customer is the same. They want communication from the start until the closing and the want to know the numbers involved in the transaction. Two way communication is vital during the process so I will explain the process and will be available to answer all questions.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
There is a process to helping a customer find the best home loan for them and their family. I encounter many first time homebuyers, and we analyze their financial situation to find a comfortable mortgage with a manageable payment. A refinance transaction is slightly different. Besides a comfortable payment, we want to the customer to realize the benefit of the refinance by reducing closing costs and maximizing interest or payment savings.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
I always recommend two things. Look for a property you would love to live in. Do not focus on future appreciation and profit since you cannot control it. I also recommend the buyer understand their own financial profile. Everyone should know their credit score and comfort level with funds needed for closing and monthly payment.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
One part of the loan process buyers find difficult is the documentation required. The mortgage industry currently is requiring a considerable amount of documentation. We communicate up front with the customer what will be required so the customer will be prepared.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
My website at Guaranteed Rate is the best resource for information.
