What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I believe our job is a consulting one. I like to take the time to listen to my client's goals and needs and then help them understand the best options for their particular situation. I have personally bought and sold numerous homes, owned and managed rental property, built new homes, and remodeled old homes. This personal experience helps me understand and guide my clients.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
The best advice for a new or first time homebuyer is to be prepared. Talk to an experienced loan officer who can guide you through all the steps that will be needed so you can be prepared up front. If you prepare several months before actually beginning your home search, you can have everything set so the entire process can run smoothly.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Gathering the required paperwork seems to be the most difficult for some customers. I like to be very detailed and only gather the documentation that will actually be needed for the process. I also gather all the necessary documentation up front so the major work for the customer is all handled at the beginning. This avoids constantly going back to the customer during the process for more and more paperwork that should have been handled at the beginning.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I am a life long beach volleyball player so my favorite activity is playing volleyball with friends at some of the great venues in Austin. I also coach competitive youth volleyball and enjoy sharing my experience with these young players.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Despite how difficult my job can be, I really enjoy it. It is extremely satisfying every time a loan closes and I can call my client to let them know we are finished. The process really creates an opportunity to get to know people and I have become long-term friends with so many of my clients.
