How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I’ve been in the industry for just short of 1 year. After 8 years of experience in sales/management environments where I was building someone else’s brand I wanted to get into an industry based solely and me and my ability to service the customer.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I primarily work with first time home-buyers who need all the coaching/advice imaginable. No question is ignored and I give as much time to them as they need to ensure there are no surprises through the process.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Take the time to get an organized list of the parts of the process you don’t understand so we can discuss those things early. Then as the process moves, expect me to be in communication with you regularly as I’ll be updating you weekly, or more often if the situation requires it. My goal is to make your home purchase simple, so know that the things I’m asking of you are significant to the achieving this goal.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
All the documentation that we require of people always tends to be frustrating, but is a necessary component of the mortgage process. Depending on the specific scenario, we can need a lot of documentation to support the approval of the loan. Remember that as a loan officer, my job is tell your story to the underwriters who will approve the financing of the home purchase. Be up front, disclose anything that has impacted your financial history as early in the process as possible, so I can ensure that I you have enough time to get me the required documentation to support your story.
Are you active in any local associations or community groups, and at what level? What goals and/or success have you helped these groups achieve?
I am the Vice President of a local chapter of BNI and focus on helping the organization members grow their businesses by encouraging members to remain active, grow trusted relationships, and refer strong business opportunities.
Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I grew up in Green Bay Wisconsin and was a graduate of Ashwaubenon High School. I attended college at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and graduated with a Bachelors in Business Management. I met my wife during our freshmen year of college and we have 2 children, 4 and 1.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I spend a lot of time with my family and am an avid golfer.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I am a high-energy personality that loves people. I get pretty excited, and can be a high-volume individual, but I am energized by interaction with people and love seeing the positive impact that these interactions can bring in both business and non-business environments.
