How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I’ve been in the mortgage industry for 16 years and bring a background in servicing and customer relations.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
Today’s market features low fixed rates and I feel strongly about a 15-year fixed mortgage if manageable within your budget. Alternatively, the 30-year fixed rate is what I recommend. An ARM loan may be a good option when rates increase.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
In order for a borrower to have an efficient loan process, it is key that the expectations between loan officer and customer are clear from the beginning and that the borrower insures they are responsive to communication and requests as it will eliminate delays or any confusion. A smooth mortgage underwriting process has consistent and open communication.
Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I grew up in Tampa, FL and attended Leto High School where I had a successful career wrestling and playing football. Upon graduating, I shifted my focus on serving our country and spent a tour of duty in the US Army. I was fortunate to be able to train in the most rigorous environments and spent 4 years conducting missions in 5 different military bases while on an M1A1 Abrams tank. Upon completing my 4-year tour of duty, I returned to Florida, attended Florida Metropolitan University and began my career in the banking and finance industry. I am married with 2 amazing young sons and spend most of my free time by attending their martial arts activities and traveling with my wife.
