About Blair

I have been in the Mortgage Industry for 15 years now. I decided to get into the Mortgage industry right after I purchased my very first home. My personal loan officer at the time took me under his wing and mentored me in the business for many years. To this day I still get the same satisfaction putting my clients first and seeing them achieve their goals and dreams of home ownership. I have 3 awesome boys that I am a dad to who are my life. I grew up in Maple Grove but currently make my home in Ramsey, MN. If I am not working, I am a Taxi Dad who drives my boys all around the cities to play competitive soccer. It is by far the most enjoyable thing for me to watch them grow up to be great teammates and citizens.

How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business since 2001. My loan officer who helped me buy my first home convinced me to give it a try. After all those years I am still doing it.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My clients range from 1st time buyers to move up buyers. They typical question I get is; how much do I qualify for? My response is typically, let's focus on payment goals first. Seeing my clients succeed in their mortgage is way more important to me than putting them into the biggest loan I can.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I typically will work to find what monthly payment they feel comfortable with. Also I like to find out what length of time they plan on staying in their home. Once we have those two items, we will look at different options and let the client pick what fits their family's needs the best.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
I have been in the mortgage business since 2001. I have been a part of the President's Club at past employers and now striving to do the same at Guaranteed Rate.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
I had a client call me with only 15 days to close on a home he purchased before the seller had to let it go back to the bank since the redemption period was over. It was a very large purchase so we had not only a 1st mortgage but also a 2nd mortgage to deal with. However, because of our Digital Mortgage capabilities we were able to get documentation very quickly and into underwriting. With the speed of our underwriting department and closing department everything happened so very smoothly in a very short amount of time.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
The way to make the mortgage process stress free is simply be organized and prepared. Collect all the documentation at once instead of piece parting it. It allows for greater organization and less mistakes. I always tell my clients the cleaner the file we turn in the cleaner it will come out.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I love spending time with my boys and watching them play soccer.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
My middle name is Hibbing and I was given that name because my Great Great Grandfather founded Hibbing, Minnesota.
