How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the business since 1999, and initially jumped into it because I like to play with numbers.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Purchasing a home is the biggest purchase decision that you will make in your life. Don't rush into it thinking you need to get it done and get it out of the way. Take your time to find that home that you truly love.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
One of the things that I will always tell borrowers is that I will ask for everything up front. It may be a lot of documents but would you rather have me make one call asking for items or call you everyday for a new item.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The thing that gives me the most satisfaction as a Loan Officer is seeing a happy borrower. It makes me feel happy realizing that I just helped a borrower save a couple of hundred dollars per month on their mortgage. They can now use that money on their children or on an emergency and not feel like they are going to be stressed over financial problems.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
When I'm not working, I'm playing with my two children 8 yr old and 3 yr old. Kids grow up too fast so you might as well enjoy all the time you have with them.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I have been known to wake up in the middle of the night and think of if a borrower's lock is about to expire in the morning. Generally I'm safe in regards to that.
