What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
The first thing I do when speaking with a new customer is find out about their objectives. What is most important to them? The lowest payment? The lowest cost? The lowest amount of total payments over the life of the loan? How long are they planning on living in the home? Is this their primary residence or will it be an investment property?
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Advice I would give a first-time home buyer is to be aware of the different types of loan products. Understand that the lowest payment does not always mean the total of all payments for the life of the loan will be the lowest. Make sure you work with a professional that will take the time to teach you what you need to know. Ask as many questions as you need to get the answers needed to make a sound decision.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
A few things borrowers can do to ensure the success of their underwriting process are, gathering documents timely, responding quickly to requests, and being forthright in the application process. Anything that was not disclosed up-front may cause delays or denials in the future.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy many activities with my family. I enjoy following and coaching my kids play basketball, competing in triathlons with my wife, and many other outdoor activities such as boating, skiing, mountain biking, and spending time at the beach.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I compete in Ironman triathlons with my wife.
