How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I joined the mortgage business a few years ago after closing on my personal home refinancing. By breaking down this complexity with simple, and clear communication skills, I understood that I can make this a smoother process for others. Since then I have worked with borrowers on a variety of home loan products. From various forms of FHA loans, complex super jumbo loans, and everything in between, including multiple simulations transactions for borrower (s). Clearly, everyone's needs are different, no two people are alike, and that is what makes it interesting for me. The results have been gratifying.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
It's all about asking the right questions! Listening and then providing feedback is the first step. From that point and beyond, it’s relative; the workflow runs smoothly.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
My children are Millennials, and first time home buyers. I remember how anxious I was when I bought my first home at the age of 24. I questioned everything: am I able to do this, should I do this, alI the what if's? I remember that experience like it was yesterday. My advice would be to go with your instincts, and choose a realtor and loan officer that feels right for you. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and be sure everyone involved explains the process to you in a way that you understand! • Go with your instincts and trust your realtor and loan officer. • A team approach, your realtor, attorney and loan officer should work in harmony • Get your financial documents in order • Ask questions, and repeat until you are comfortable • Let the loan officer guide you • Remember Loan Officers rely on and everyone else working for you rely on referrals.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Everyone is different, I have worked with people from all walks of life, from the first time home buyer who is an hourly employee to the C-level executives at the Fortune 500. One common trait is that everyone wants this process to be as easy as possible. Again, this is why I listen and ask questions. Some difficulties consumers have are: • Expediting the gathering of specific documents • Including all blank pages • Exporting these docs in the proper electronic format • Naming each file correctly When my client(s) execute the above properly, the process goes much more smoothly!
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Preparation on everyone's part is important. On your end, that means getting your documentation prepared and organized, so we may expedite the process. There are always underwriting conditions, however; it’s really a very important part of the extended workflow, at this point you are at the finish line.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I am 100% involved with every client. It's a great feeling to see them smile and feel great about the process. It’s rewarding to meet new people and when someone appreciates the effort. Even better is when someone new reaches out to me, mentioning one of my previous clients. It's a great feeling and an honor.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I am a student of golf, and pretty much into any sport having to do with hand-eye coordination. Summer is my favorite time of year!
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
People say I am funny! I prefer to focus on everyone’s successes. I do enjoy acknowledging others. I just like to make people smile and consider myself a senior teenager of sorts. Life is way too short to take myself too seriously!
