What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I listen to my clients and try to understand their long term goals and their current financial situation. No matter what loan amount and monthly payment I am able to qualify my client for, they have to have a mortgage payment they are comfortable with.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Ask questions. Ask as many questions as necessary to make sure you fully understand your mortgage product, rate, closing costs and forms you are signing.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
I started in the mortgage business in 1984. Today, we are back to 1980\'s Underwriting standards-which I feel we should have had all along. I need to continue taking a quality loan application and document credit, income and assets accurately. Providing my clients with quality loan products and competitive rates is essential to the future of my business.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
I ask my clients to provide all the necessary back up documentation up front, so that I am able to accurately preapprove them. Some of the back up documents I ask for are current paystubs, 2 years of W2's, Tax Returns and Bank Statements for 2 months.
Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I grew up in Florida and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina 18 years ago. I graduated from Boca High School and received my bachelors degree from Barry University. I'm about to be an empty nester--my daughter just graduated from East Carolina University and my youngest son will be graduating from high school and plans to attend the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I get the most satisfaction as a Loan Officer when my clients are happy with their loan product and process and refer their friends and coworkers to me. I measure my success by the satisfaction of my clients.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Spending quality time with my family is important to me. I love watching my daughter cheer at football games and love watching my son compete in tennis matches and band performances.
