What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
First and foremost I ask questions. I delve deep into what my clients are truly looking to accomplish. I am well versed in communication, so this gives my clients a great deal of comfort knowing they will know exactly what is going on with their loan every step of the way.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
This is an interesting question. When I first started in this industry rates were higher, qualifying was not as difficult, more people could qualify. FICO scores were not a deciding factor. We used "easy qualifier" loans as opposed to "stated income". The most common loan program used was the 5 year or 7 year FIRM.
Today is a completely different ball game. FICO scores are very important in the decision making process. Easy qualifier loans are no longer, neither are stated income. In today's environment, there are so many obstacles that no longer allow a good portion of potential buyers from being able to borrow money. I look forward to a day when "make sense" lending comes back to the marketplace.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
The qualifying process is difficult at best. Borrowers need to realize that when we ask for more information, we really need it. Providing ALL the upfront documentation to your loan officer, in it's entirety, will certainly help this process. Borrowers need to feel comfortable with the fact that loan officers are working on their behalf. So, help us so we can help you.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I am a very active person; never let the moss grow under my feet. I love to travel and do as often as I can. I love a great read with a good book. But most of all, I have been blessed with 3 very delicious grand babies. I spend as much time as I can with the 3 of them.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Oh my goodness, this sounds like an "dating site" question........
