How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I’ve been in the mortgage business for over 12 years. I entered the mortgage industry over a decade ago with a love and passion for real estate. As a young girl, I remember my dad would take me to open houses to look at the unique styles of different homes, how they were laid out, and the designs. Shortly after graduating college, I sought out a career in the mortgage industry as I knew my passion was helping people in all stages of home buying.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
First time home buyers are a joy to work with! It is an honor to be part of their journey in purchasing their first home. When I meet with a first time home buyer, I like to review the entire process with them, as buying a home can be overwhelming and most people aren’t aware of all the complex parts associated with it. I want to make sure they can see both the bigger picture and still understand the parts and pieces. The best advice is to get Pre-Approved BEFORE doing anything else! Don’t fall in love with a home and only then find out your credit score isn’t high enough, the monthly mortgage exceeds your comfort level or the property would require too high of a down payment. Understand your purchasing power and get these answers first so you can be confident when searching for your first home.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
The actual home shopping experience is the exciting and fun part. Compiling income and asset documentation, completing a loan application, evaluating your true purchasing power, assessing sources for down payment…it’s not the most glamorous part of the home buying experience. However, this part is the most important since it is the only way to get your new home unless you’re a cash buyer. I work diligently to ensure this process is as simple as possible. Using a few convenient digital tools, such as my secure online application, you can literally be completing the application on your phone in your pajamas on the couch! I also have clients that take advantage of TransferSafe, which allows them to simply drag and drop their documents from their computer. No more printing, faxing or mailing. What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Whether it’s your primary, vacation or investment home, purchasing real estate tends to be the largest purchase for an individual. It’s a big deal! I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of their journey and help with the goal of home ownership. It always excites me to help clients obtain great financing and lending options to match their specific needs in achieving the dream of home ownership. I also enjoy the business partners I’ve made, friendships I’ve gained over time, and consistently meeting new people. I feel grateful in what I do for a living.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
My favorite movie of all time is Dirty Dancing, and for my 40th birthday my husband took me to the State of Virginia to the actual resort the movie was filmed. It was part of their annual Dirty Dancing themed weekend. I felt like I was in the movie! Super cheesy I know, but so fun and memories for life.
