What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I take the time to really understand and know what my customers financial needs are so they feel comfortable in the final program and product.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
As an industry, it's kind of ingrained in many customers that a thirty year fixed mortgage is the better option. However, explaining the pros and cons of both such as variable rate caps, possible future payment increases versus the comfort of fixed payments is important to understand. Ultimately taking the time to give options to customers so they can make sound financial decisions is key.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Most customers are very frustrated on the intensive paperwork required to obtain a mortgage. With my many years of experience in the industry, I really take the time to not only ask for documentation upfront, but explain why they are needed to fulfill the application process.
Are you active in any local associations or community groups, and at what level? What goals and/or success have you helped these groups achieve?
I currently serve on the Maine State Housing board as a commissioner. Also, I am on the board of Greater Portland Habitat for Humanity and on the finance committee. These affiliations have been instrumental in fulfilling a personal goal of mine in making home ownership affordable and available to qualified residents of Maine.

Really can't think of anything except my dedication to home ownership and delivering the American Dream to as many as possible.
