Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
It is hard to generalize any of my clientele as typical. That's what makes my day to day routine so interesting. A commonality that my clients do have, whether a first time buyer right out of college or a seasoned life professional, is that they all what to know what happens next. Communication is key with every loan process. One of my goals is to make sure my clients know what to expect upfront, during, and after the loan process is complete. Keeping people in the know is a major reason for my success within our communities.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
Upon my initial interview of a client, I determine the options that work best for them. Pros and cons of any loan product are determined by the client's goals in relation to their overall profile. I dig deep to find options that make sense and then let the client decide for themselves what works for them.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
It is imperative for clients to work with a seasoned loan officer and follow their direction. The mortgage world is a series of ever changing rules and regulations and it is the loan officer's responsibility to explain what is needed as well as the "why" behind it. The loan officers and their clients have the same goal......to complete the purchase or refinance. Defer to my expertise to get us to the finish line on the path of least resistance.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The biggest reward, to me, is having my clients accomplish their goals in a simple fashion. Typically, this leads to referrals which, truly, is the best compliment a client could ever give me.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Aside from my career as a mortgage professional, my lovely wife Ginger and I also own Union Street. Union Street is an iconic restaurant and watering hole in Midtown Detroit. I have a strong passion for the city of Detroit and am extremely proud to serve the diverse population within its community.
