How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
Over 25 years. After college got involved in the mortgage broker industry when it first started.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I help all types of borrowers. Jumbo million dollar second homes to first time home buyers needing help with credit and everything in between.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I look at how long you plan on keeping the home and the amount of money you have available to use in determining what will be the best loan for you. Often I structure the purchase to position a buyer's needs, knowing down the road we will restructure it. You will not miss out on a great home purchase or a refinance loan if I have anything to do with it. I use all my knowledge and resources for approvals.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
Being in the industry for over 25 years, I've learned what guidelines work and what ones do not. A young lady with perfect credit and 20% down from her parents got turned down by the local bank because after 3 years, she changed schools as a teacher. The local bank stated she would need to work there for 6 months before they could do the loan. I closed it in 3 weeks. This happens all the time for all kinds of reasons. If your loan can be closed I will get it closed.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Customers don\'t understand why so much information is needed to get a clear to close. I explain that taking the time to gather all the information, this one time, will allow them to obtain these record low rates.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Follow instructions as detailed as you can. Don't assume anything. Try and provide exactly what is being ask.

I grew up in Salisbury, NC and graduated from Catawba College in Business Administration. I moved to Wilmington, NC in 2006 and I am very knowledgeable of all of North Carolina.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Seeing people close on a home after they thought they could never buy.
