About Jason

I am a true student of the finance industry, continually learning how our markets work to move rates up and down. I challenge myself every day to learn something new about our financial markets. I have spent the past decade learning how to analyze securities and bond reports to ensure my clients are always well informed of potential market shifts. I am also a true teacher of the finance industry, able to disseminate the information I gather to my clients in an effort to educate them and create awareness of what is going on around us through various blogs and classes I conduct.

My goal is to be fair and accurate with my clients on every transaction. I believe that trust is the most important ingredient in the relationship between my client and me, which is why I focus on complete transparency with my clients so they understand where all of the numbers in their transactions are derived from. When trust is high and stress is low, purchases close on time.

I have a great appreciation for active and retired military professionals and have put in many hours of labor to specialize in financing for those individuals and their families to ensure that I can give them something back in return for the freedoms they provide me.

How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
18 years. I absolutely love numbers and financing. When I discovered that I could educate others and help them make solid financing decisions with the cornerstone piece of their financial lives, I was all in.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My typical customer is one who is looking for guidance regarding which is the best possible mortgage loan to have, and why.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
It is a very simple process that doesn't need to be overcomplicated. I ask questions and my clients answer those questions, which always leads us to the correct loan for them.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
18 years. I have been a multi year recipient of the Super Mortgage Professional Award given by Minneapolis - St Paul Business Magazine.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
I truly believe that there are equal number of pros and cons for both a fixed rate mortgage and an adjustable rate mortgage. 30 year fixed is not always the best answer for clients, and in many cases, an adjustable rate mortgage's benefits far exceed that of it's fixe rate counterpart. Every client has a different life plan, and their loan option must be tailored to their specific plan to be financially effective.
What resources could you recommend that borrowers use to learn more about the mortgage process and how to ensure a successful home closing?
Guaranteed Rate has an excellent assortment of e-books to help with every step of the process, including a step by step process analysis, how to understand your credit report, and how to read your appraisal. I provide all of these to my clients when they use me for their home financing.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Smiles at the closing table. Whether it is a client's 10th home or 1st home, when I see smiles at the closing table, I know I did my job well. This directly impacts the longevity of my tenure in this industry, as my business is based on 100% referrals. When I see smiles at the closing table, I am confident those new homeowners will not keep my service a secret.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
On a personal side, I hold 3 financial degrees from Jamestown College and oddly enough 2 credits away from 2 not so financial degrees. I love to golf, but not nearly as much as I love my 2 sons. My greatest passions are hockey, soccer, traveling, and any financial books. I have kissed the Stanley Cup twice, the FA Cup (in London), and have traveled to 22 countries. I love movies, but not television. I love dogs, but not cats. I love snow, but not winter, and I can give a full tour of New York City, from Battery Park to Central Park, in 24 hours.
