About Jeff

My undergrad degree is in Finance and my graduate degree is in Educational Administration. I have been in Finance over 20 years and spent 10 years in Education, teaching pre-algebra and algebra I. Both my parents and in-laws had their own businesses so I have always been drawn to Business / Sales.

I would tell first-time buyers to do their due diligence when considering purchasing as it usually is the largest financial purchase one makes in their life. Ask a lot of questions to those involved in the process; including all mortgage professionals, real estate agents, property inspectors, knowledgeable friends / family, etc… An educated, informed buyer generally will make a well-considered decision.

I enjoy music a lot and have played guitar at several open mikes with a desire for more as I can find the time and venues. I also, enjoy playing basketball, golf, tennis and still want to learn to surf.

What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
My goal is to actively listen to them, ask lots of questions concerning what they want to accomplish and present them with options to meet their objectives. I want to educate them about the process, address their questions and set the right expectations for them. My hope is to help them, their family and friends for a lifetime not just for one particular loan.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
It has become so much more convenient recently with the advent of technology. Now a borrower can apply online 24/7 from anywhere, submit loan documents electronically and even check on the status on their loan online. We have so much good information available for consumers on our website to help them get some understanding about today's loan process prior to visiting with a mortgage specialist. We have even moved into embracing phone app technology for those who prefer the versatility of doing mortgages with their cell phones, which have really become handheld mini-computers. All the innovations allow for much better and quicker communication between borrowers and lenders. The future is very bright for all of us because we have access to each other and information at our fingertips 24/7.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
It is important that they respond to their processors' request in a timely manner. The processors work with all parties to complete the loan and if one item is missing or incomplete -- they can not move the file forward to closing. The processors communicate the underwriters' needs or concerns to the borrowers as the underwriters do not work with the borrowers directly.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
When a borrower thanks me for assisting them through the process. It makes sense of what I am doing during the week when borrowers have their new home or are now able to save money because of our working together to accomplish their objectives.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I am trying to stay healthy and active a lot. I got rid of my desk chair and have been standing at work for the last year or so. I feel more energized throughout the day and don't have the lower backache anymore from sitting so much.
