How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
Got in the business in 2005 (12 years) and I love real estate and working with/analyzing numbers… so mortgages what an obvious fit!
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
real estate investors & clients that want to rehab a home. Credit score requirements, the time frame to close, rate, cash to close, closing costs, down payment and max loan to value ratios based on a variety of scenarios, etc.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
In my initial phone interview, I ask a variety of questions that help me get a clear idea of what their financial goals

What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Don’t rule yourself out! With FHA and a variety of Bond Programs buyers with less than perfect credit or with lower down payments can still qualify for a home. In many cases, mortgage payments are lower than rent payments.
Tell us about a mortgage product that consumers may not be aware of?
Many people don’t know about the suite of renovation loans that are out there. Many loan officers don’t know how to write them and many realtors have had bad experiences so the sell away from dated home that need work. It’s a great way for people buy homes at a discounted price and be able to put their personal touch on a home. These programs come with some very low-down payment and liberal credit history.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
most clients get frustrated with the loan process because the industry way is to ask for a never-ending wave of updated documentation. When the updated documents trigger new requirements, the clients become unraveled. The only way to help them through this is to work with a knowledgeable team that knows exactly what will be required on the loan. When the loan is submitted in it’s done right and the file moves quickly through the system. Ultimately avoiding the need for updated documents that can create surprises
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
All Loan Officers are created equally, using the bank that has your checking account or auto loan must be the best option for their home loan.
Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I grew up in Lafayette, Indiana and went to McCutcheon Highschool. Some famous musicians from my home town are Axl Rose from Guns N’ Roses and Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon. I graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s of Science from the School of Technology.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I really enjoy helping people making informed decisions that will put them on solid footing for their future. Often this can be done through renovation loans, but other examples could be consolidating higher debt, take cash out to invest, or shorten the term of the loan saving tens of thousands of dollars.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
Spending time with my wife and my two boys and our extended family at our lake house. Boating and time at the beach with my family have created some of my best memories.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
A couple fun facts about me are that I am an identical twin and people usually get a laugh when they find out I know how to cut hair. I don’t mean the clippers… I know who to use the scissors ??
