In that 10 years, I have owned a mortgage company, managed up to 40 loan officers and processors and have extensive experience in all aspects of the process from origination to closing. Outside of my work at Guaranteed Rate, I live in the Saco area with my partner Kelli. We have 5 kids between us, ranging in age from 23 to 4 and are always going somewhere! What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I listen, I find that is the best first step in nearly everything! I want to find out what your goals are and where you are most comfortable. Once I know that information, I can show you the best options that will get you into your home.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Sit down and make an informed decision on what a comfortable housing payment is for you. Once you know what you want to spend, look for houses that will keep you there. Stick to that number.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
There are 2 things that you can do to make your loan flow smoothly and virtually stress free: 1- Once we identify a loan product and you have found a property, it is so important that you get all the documents that have been requested into the team so that your loan can move to closing as quickly as possible. This will give us the time to address any surprises that may pop up. If there are no surprises it will ensure that you are clear to close in plenty of time. 2- Don't make any changes to your situation during the process, this would include: charging on your credit cards, changing jobs, selling large assets that will result in a large deposit, buying a car or other large purchase, changing your name and spending large amounts of your reserves. We are taking a picture of your situation to present to the underwriter and then another picture right before closing. Its important that those pictures are pretty close to the same!!
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I love helping clients navigate the process and knowing that I have placed them in the loan product that will help them achieve their dreams outside of their home as well as inside.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Although you would not know it when you meet me, I am a HUGE Star Wars fan. Yes, I do have a costume and I have been known to wear it.
