About Jonathan

I have been in the mortgage business since 2002. I started working in the industry straight out of school and never looked back. During the last 14 yrs the most gratifying part of working in the mortgage industry has been my ability to help indiviuals and familes obtain their home-ownership dreams. I hope to continue serving the Northwest Indiana homeowner community for years to come.

How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
14 years. I was inspired by my family who was already in the business.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I deal with a lot of 1st time homebuyers, which I love as I get a satisfaction in spending the extra time with someone who is new to the mortgage process. And I take pride in that fact that they found someone they can trust as their 1st loan officer.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I take the extra time to explain all aspects of each loan program the buyer would qualify for, and we decide together what program best fits their needs

Tell us about a mortgage product that consumers may not be aware of?
Double Match is a great program that will offer down-payment assistance to many borrowers, whether a first time home buyer or not. If a borrower puts 1% down on a new home purchase, Guaranteed Rate will double match the down payment and contribute an additional 2% down. This is a 3% down Conventional 30yr fixed loan program.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Listen to their Loan officer and provide all requested documentation accordingly. The biggest complaint we receive in the mortgage industry now a days is regarding the amount of documentation that is requested for each transaction. This is industry standard, and everyone is treated the same. Please provide the requested documentation when it is asked for in a timely manner.
