How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I’m in my 30th year in the mortgage business. I come from a humble background and a neighborhood that didn’t have many homeowners because housing was unaffordable to the typical neighbor. When I saw the opportunity to get into an industry that would allow me the opportunity to help folks become homeowners, I jumped at it. Even after 30 years, I am still passionate about coming to work every day!
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Make your home buying decision with your head and not your heart. You can find that perfect home that you fall in love with while still maintaining your budget so that you can enjoy other things in life instead of worrying about the mortgage payment every month.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1. I have to put 20% as a down payment.
2. I haven’t been at my current job for 2 years.
3. My credit scores are below 700 so I probably won’t get qualified for a loan.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife, Josephine, my high school sweetheart. I also enjoy spending time with my children, Nick & Gabriella, and my 2 grandchildren, Brooklyn & Matteo. I also enjoy cooking, bowling, fishing and reading.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I am a fountain of useless knowledge, as my family tells me, but it makes me a very good Jeopardy player. One day, I hope to try out!
