How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
My name is John Miller, I’ve been in the mortgage industry since January of 2017. I made the decision to join GR for several different reasons, including the great company culture, excellent hands-on training program, and also the amazing opportunity to help people all over the nation become home owners.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
The best advice I can give to first time home buyers is to trust the experts in their field and be proactive. Purchasing a home is a very intricate and time sensitive process. There are many moving parts to getting a loan funded, but thankfully I work with several wonderful people on my team, who have all gone through extensive training to become experts in their field. I look at this as a complete team effort, including the borrower, so being as proactive as possible is a must for everyone involved.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
One of the most important steps of the process is when files move to underwriting. GR has an awesome team and amazing technology to insure that we don't lose time and miss deadlines. As a borrower, you play a vital role in keeping the ball moving. Make sure to answer ALL phone calls from myself and my mortgage team, and send us all the documents we request as soon as possible. We have amazing technology that allows us to share documents in a secure and efficient manner. If you prefer to mail or fax them please let me know ASAP, we want to make sure this process goes as smooth as possible. It's important we set proper expectations in order to close your loan on time.

Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Not a lot of people know this, but I am pretty much obsessed with Hip-Hop music, particularly Old School, Underground, and Alternative to be more specific. I love to search, discover, and share different songs that I find and playlists that I put together. I’ve always loved exploring different artist’s discography’s, and really like to learn about the overall evolution of music. Also, over time I have become fascinated with Hip-Hop music production, and now try and make beats in my free time. Some of my favorite Hip-Hop artists of all time include – A Tribe Called Quest, MF DOOM, De La Soul, Atmosphere, and Wu-Tang Clan to name just a few.
