How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business since 2004. The reason I got into the business was the ability to help friends/family with their biggest asset. As a leader with a strong sense of commitment it’s my belief that I can give my community a sense of empowerment through a greater sense of education with the understanding from being a “homeowner”.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
The truth is that I dont have a typical customer. Each one of my clients is unique and requires a specific mortgage that is tailored to their needs. There are many questions that are standard, but in the end my clients want to make sure that they are getting the best product with the highest level of service.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
The best advice I can give any first time homebuyer is do your research and create a team that keeps your needs in mind. Find a loan officer with experience, teaches first time home buyer classes, and has a track record for success.
Tell us about a mortgage product that consumers may not be aware of?
Most clients are not aware of our renovation loans. Many clients pass on great home ownership opportunities because a kitchen or bathroom doesnt fit their needs. The benefit is that the renovation loan allows the client to get the perfect home and install their perfect kitchen all with one loan and one closing.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The three top misconceptions in the loan process is that there is 1) a lot of paperwork to print and sign 2) drag in a bunch of supporting documents and 3) take time off work to apply. The reality is with our digital mortgage process one can apply anytime and from anywhere online, upload supporting docs, and even esign right from the comfort of their residence.
What 2 or 3 mobile apps would you recommend for home buyers or house hunters, and why? What Smart Apps do you recommend your customers use for the house hunting process?
The number one App I would tell ANY homeowner to get is a mortgage calculator that allows you to add taxes and insurance. The next App I would suggest is Zillow. Zillow allows you to see the “detailed” information about your purchase including the taxes.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
What provides me with the most satisfaction in my job is seeing the happy look on their faces as they are handed their new set of keys.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
One of my other passions is cooking. I grew up working in kitchens throughout my undergraduate and graduate program. I would not call myself a chef, but I can compete.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Something that makes me wacky is my ability to imitate people's voices.
