How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business for 13 years. I love the idea that every day is different and each borrower has specific needs to help them with their financial goals. Figuring out how to help them succeed with their goals is what drives me.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I work with all different types of buyers, from first timers to people that are purchasing their 5th home. The one constant is that they all want great communication and to understand what is coming next in the process. That is what I strive to deliver for every client.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
The initial consultation is very important and helps drive the entire process. It's important to understand each client's short and long term goals and how their mortgage will help them achieve those. By doing a deep dive in to what the client is looking to achieve, I can help tailor the right mortgage to help them succeed.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
During my time in the business I've won several awards including being in the Top 1% of mortgage originators and am currently a President's Club member at Guaranteed Rate.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Most first time buyers have a misconception of the process based on what they have seen in the media or have read online. Take the time to see if buying a home is right for you, and even if it isn’t right now, let’s put together a plan so that down the road it will be.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
It has changed drastically, but for the better. We are in a full documentation world where every piece of information needs to be backed up with the correct paperwork. However, it’s not as intimidating as people make it out to be. By setting the stage up front with the first meeting, we can point you in the right direction and make sure that you are aware of the process and what is required.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Without the proper guidance, the whole process can get confusing. Customers lose track of what is supposed to happen in what order. I make sure to set the stage up front with what to expect in the process and provide continuous updates to make sure everyone is on the same page.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The biggest misconceptions are that you need a large down payment (3-5% options are back), it will take too long and it is a painful process. We strive to make the process as simple and as forward as possible.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
The easiest way to make the underwriting process smooth is to follow the advice of your loan officer with regards to the do's and dont's during the process and provide the needed documentation in a timely fashion.

I grew up locally in Oswego, IL. I graduated from Purdue University and then married my high school sweet heart Lisa. We have 2 wonderful children together.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
The biggest thrill of this job is helping anyone obtain the dream of homeownership. Especially those that never thought it was possible.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
When I'm not at work, I love travelling with my family and playing golf.

At 6'7", I'm usually the tallest guy in the room!
