How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I started in the mortgage business in 2001 and was looking for a combination of sales, marketing, and working with consumers daily and I have a love of numbers so mortgages turned out to be the perfect fit as I LOVE what I do and helping borrowers with the biggest financial decisions with a home.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I consult with my borrowers to determine the best loan options based on their budget and financial goals both now and in the future. It’s not just a “here’s your rate and preapproval” it’s a true consultation to find out what they need to feel comfortable in their mortgage. The process is not always about rate, and you have to develop a relationship and trust for a client to share those details with you.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
As a first time buyer there is paralysis of analysis of information. To start with understanding your goals and what the mortgage can do for you to meet those goals is first step. Next is to understand the loan options, the payment and cash to close, and how one option differs from the rest, finally is to conclude your pre approval with the comfort of no surprises and shopping with confidence and focus on the house and not worrying about the financing.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
With the ever changing mortgage industry a lot of my client’s find the fear of the unknown. They think since the mortgage meltdown that they cannot buy if they faced a hardship in the past or don’t have 20% down and excellent credit. That’s not the case, and I explain the options available, what steps to get from beginning to end and how to make things easier on themselves by letting me do the work for them in evaluating options based on their wants and needs.

I am a born and raised “Mitten” girl, love the seasons our great state offers and grew up locally in Westland, attended college at U of M – go Blue! and maintain local affiliations with realtors, financial planners, insurance agents and local municipalities to stay informed of my market.

I love to target shoot – I find a focus and respect for guns as well as enjoy the challenge against myself to improve.
