How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage business 8 years. Helping families achieve the American Dream of homeownership is what continues to inspire today.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
The advice I would give to first time home buyers is to dedicate time to educate themselves on homeownership and obtaining a mortgage. I would go as far as meeting with a couple different professionals and gauge their level of experience and education they share with you to help make this process as seamless as possible.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Due to the current mortgage landscape (post-recession era), lending practices have become mortgage stringent. In order to prevent a real estate catastrophe in the future, lenders have increased scrutiny of all borrowers obtaining home loans. Clients typically find the documentation request the most troublesome. What we find is that this usually occurs when the borrower's expectations are not defined at the beginning of the process and when the Loan Officer does a poor job of collecting the critical documents needed for a smooth underwriting submission. My team prides themselves with educating the client of the entire process and what to expect. We use a checklist and analyze our clients pre-approval thoroughly to validate the documents needed for a smooth process.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
As a husband and father of four, I enjoy my time away from work with my family. You can catch us in church on Sundays, one of many of Houston's top restaurants on a given Friday night, or simply enjoying time away whether it's outside of Houston, Texas, or the country.
