How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
If you would have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, doing mortgage loans would not have been my answer. But funny how things work out! I have always had a fascination with homes, the design, detail, floor plan, décor, etc. I am an HGTV and decorating junkie! Back in 2003, I decided to use my marketing degree to start in the financial industry business and started helping people refinance their home loans. I loved to talk to people about both their finances and their largest asset, their home. In 2009, I moved onto the purchase market and have never looked back. I thoroughly enjoy being a small part of my client’s path to home ownership. This is such a rewarding career to be able to know you are helping put families into the homes they have always dreamed of!
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
The only constant in the mortgage industry is change. The world today is a completely different world than even a few years ago. Today everything revolves around documentation, documentation, documentation. There is a lot of uncertainty and anxiety around the mortgage process, and a lot of that is resolved by walking people through the process, requirements and options we have out there today. I do my best to ensure I educate my clients upfront so they know what the process will be like and am there to help every step of the way.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The home loan process can be challenging but I have found if there is clear communication, realistic expectations and a sense of urgency, the process is a much smoother road. I encourage buyers to speak with me as early in the process as possible. I am here to help them through every step of the way!
Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. I went to Penn-Trafford High School and then graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Marketing. So naturally I am a huge Steelers and PSU fan! After college, I moved to Mechanicsburg, PA where I currently live with my husband and two children, Camden, 3 yrs old, and Charlotte who is 1.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
My children are my everything and I am blessed to have them. My son was born via my sister being a gestational surrogate. Then after years of being unable to carry a child, my daughter was born. I live my life with the attitude that you can never give up on your dreams. My children are the proof of that!
