How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I’ve been in the business since 1989. Was renovating residential homes in Historic designated areas in Baltimore City and had to stop when the Tax Laws changed in 1986 / 1987. Brother was originating loans in Philadelphia and suggested I join Traveler’s Mortgage Company.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
Regulation (Dodd – Frank) has virtually choked the industry. Hopefully the new Trump Administration will make the mortgage environment more user friendly.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Understanding the electronic application / disclosure process and uploading documents. Especially when the borrowers are older and are not as IT literate as younger borrowers. Helping them through by offering more attention to their concerns to reduce their frustration level.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Helping Disabled Veterans purchase a home.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I am very well read and therefore able to discuss many issues that our country is facing today.
