How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I am grateful to have had 17 amazing years in the mortgage industry. From a young age, I had a keen interest in Real Estate, a desire to help others and a competitive spirit for solving challenging situations. When I put the three together; mortgage lending was a perfect fit! Because I had experienced some questionable lending practices first hand, my goal when I entered the mortgage business was to always keep responsible, honest lending practices my priority. To this day, I am proud of the work that I have done for my Clients and appreciate the loyalty they have shown.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
I have three key pieces of advice for first time home buyers:
• Don’t put off purchasing a home because of a lack of down payment, little established credit or high student loan balances. There are first time purchase programs that are especially designed for these hurdles and will enable you to purchase your first home.
• Begin your planning to purchase a home well before you plan to make an offer. Meet with a mortgage loan officer early in the process so that they can provide the groundwork and the amount of mortgage you can comfortably afford. All Buyers have different priorities and needs, so if you start planning early, the financial transaction will go smoothly.
• Reach out to trusted, ethical Real Estate professionals who will put your interests first and who will have the patience to guide you while allowing you the time to absorb the process of home buying. When you learn the proper steps to owing and financing a home, you will be better prepared for a future home purchases.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Obtaining a mortgage for a home loan can be a daunting, unnerving experience. Borrowers are looking for simplicity and clarity to a complex transaction. This is where my 17 years of experience in the mortgage lending industry provides a competitive advantage for my clients. My job is to bring a straightforward, uncomplicated, responsible approach to mortgage lending. Keeping up to date with current mortgage guidelines and practices, exceptional responsiveness and uncompromising integrity are my secrets to a rewarding, stress-free mortgage experience.
Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I grew up in Manhattan Beach, CA where my family placed a high priority on working hard and helping others. When I left home to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University, my plan was to teach students with special needs. I taught Special Education at the high school level for several years where I drew courage and strength from my challenged students each day. To this day, I am grateful for the lessons that they taught me about grit, integrity and hard work.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy keeping tabs on my two, “adult” sons who are currently attending college. Cheering on my oldest, who plays competitive beach volleyball and my youngest who plays college football keeps me busy during my off hours. My other favorite activities include writing “Honey do” lists for my retired husband and making my “famous guacamole” from our avocados trees.
