How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
Marcel has been a loan officer since 1998. Always having had an interest in numbers as well as helping people, the mortgage industry has been a perfect fit. There are very few professions where one can have such an impact on people’s lives. Being a professional means putting people first, and making sure they you help them meet their long and short term equity payment objectives. Having always followed this path have Marcel being recognized as a leader in the mortgage industry.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
A fixed rate mortgage gives the security that the principal and interest will say the same throughout the term of the loan. The rate will normally be a bit higher than and ARM loan. This type of loan is great for someone who thinks they may stay in their home for an extended period of time. ARM loans have had some negative connotations over the last years, but if used properly, they can be a great loan option. The rate will normally be less than a fixed rate mortgage, keeping the payment down. However, the loan rate will likely adjust at a predetermined time. So if that time is 7 years, and your intent is to sell the home in 5 or 6 years, and ARM could be a better option than a fixed rate mortgage.

People think you have to have perfect credit to buy a home, and have at least 20% down. This is not the case. There are many programs with various different loan structures that can help you meet your monthly payment and funds at closing objectives.
