Martin Greis went above and beyond to find a lender and a loan that would work for my circumstance. Maria Hartley kept the process moving along. Both were friendly, easy to work with, and responsive to my questions and concerns.

Thank you for being able to provide a house finance on a short notice and for a quick turn around time. Signing the docs on line made things very easy.

We've worked with Martin Greis for over 10 years. He has helped us to obtain financing for several home related projects. He has gone the extra mile for us, reassured us, and been with us every step of the way. We hope to have a life-long relationship with him.

We're in California and this is our second refi with Guaranteed Rate. The process was very simple and clear even on income property with cash out. Have already recommended Guaranteed Rate to several friends!

About Martin

I got into the mortgage industry about 13 years ago when I went to my best friends 50th surprise birthday party in Richmond, VA. I was at that time a Realtor in the Bradenton/Sarasota area of Florida and relocated to Virginia when I was offered the opportunity to become a Mortgage Loan Originator there. I love interacting with all the different people from all walks of life. I have always treated people the way I have wanted to be treated and it has worked well for me throughout my career.

Martin interview Q&A

What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
A thorough analysis of a client's profile which includes where they expect to be in 5 years along with our Intuitive Loan Finder that helps determine which mortgage fits their needs.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
Recently had a refinance client that was paying over $5,900 a year in flood insurance. She had self certified her elevation parameters when she closed on her purchase in 2010 and I realized that she had to be overpaying. So I called the County Flood Plan Manager and he sent out a crew, which performed an elevation certificate for her for free (thanks Henrico County) and when she turned in the new data to FEMA, her annual premium went down to $583.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Turning in your required documentation on time with no missing pages will do wonders for your process.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy playing tennis with my daughter, hiking in the mountains, golf, going to the beach, Bikram Yoga and Soccer.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I watch my favorite soccer team in the same "lucky" jersey every week.
