How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the business for over 10 years and done everything from originating loans, to loan processing to managing my own team. I love what I do and I love helping people. This has allowed me to make a huge difference in people\'s lives by helping them purchase their first home, refinance to put them in a better financial position, or purchase investment properties to plan for their future.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
The first step that I take with my customers is to review their credit report together to ensure that everything is reported accurately. If something appears to be incorrect, I guide them through the process of what is needed to get it corrected. Our credit company provides Rapid Rescore, credit supplements, and other tools that allow me to increase their FICO score in the shortest period of time. This is a very important step as it will ensure that they are able to obtain the best interest rate and program for them and their families.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
My advice to a new or first time home buyer would be to get informed. For some of us, buying a home will be the biggest purchase that we will ever make in our lives and as such you will have many questions. Call me so I can analyze your situation and go over your options with you so you can make an informed decision.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
1. They do not qualify - Many homebuyers I have come across think they do not qualify to purchase a home or refinance but have not had their situation analyzed. To their surprise many do qualify! 2. They need a lot of money to purchase a home - There are many programs available that do not require a lot of money to be able to purchase or refinance (FHA, VA, Conventional, Down Payment Assistance programs, etc.). 3. They will not be able to afford a mortgage payment - Many of my buyers are surprised when I go over payments with them and are so happy to hear that their potential mortgage payment is less than expected. In some cases, it can be the same or less than what they currently pay for rent. Home affordability is at its best right now as we are seeing the lowest rates that we have seen in years.
Are you active in any local associations or community groups, and at what level? What goals and/or success have you helped these groups achieve?
I am a proud affiliate of The Inland Association of Realtors (TIGAR) and have been since 2007. I am also part of the Recreation Committee. For this reason, I have been a contributor to the Realtor Action Fund since 2011. I love the association that I belong to and everything they stand for...Homeownership!
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
My job allows me to make a difference in people\'s lives and that is very rewarding. To know that I will forever be part of that wonderful memory of homeownership is priceless. Hearing the excitement in their voices as they tell me they have received their keys or if it is a refinance, how much better off they will be financially fills me with joy. I am very proud of what I do and the difference that I make.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I love to swim and swam competitively throughout middle school, high school, and college. I am absolutely intimidated by the kitchen. I do not know how to cook a thing. My husband says the only thing I know how to make are "reservations". After 10yrs of marriage we were blessed to find out we were pregnant....with twins! Now I am a mommy of 3 beautiful children!
