Being a military brat, I moved around the country and was accustomed to changing schools every two years. Eventually my family settled in the Washington DC area of Northern Virginia, and to me this is home.
My initial experience in the mortgage industry started after my freshman year at James Madison University. In order to pay for my college expenses, I needed to work several summer jobs. (One job simply would not cover tuition/living). My 9-5 job was an internship at a local mortgage company. It took me one summer to decide working with people and finance was where I saw myself in the future. When I headed back for my sophomore year, I immediately changed my major to Business with a concentration in Marketing.
For that experience, I am extremely grateful and still amazed that one summer internship could influence my career path.
Since graduating, I have been in the financial field both with residential mortgage as well as private wealth management. I took a Certified Financial Planning course at Georgetown University which included in depth classes on personal taxes and estate planning. These courses and experiences have provided me with an upper hand when working with clients, specifically self-employed, advanced tax returns, fixed income, etc. (These are my favorites!)
Currently I live in Washington DC with my loving spouse, Labrador puppy, and very patient cat. Since I am a product of military moving, I am grateful to have my two sisters and their families as well as my husband's extended family all in the Northern Virginia area. Thanksgivings have never been bigger!
