About Mitch

I started in the mortgage industry in 1985, because I found home financing so interesting. Because I wanted to buy my own home, I wanted to learn about the steps and planning required to buy a home. At the beginning, I remember how challenging it was and is for first time homebuyers.

I earned my college degree at Cal State Eastbay in Business Administration Marketing and Finance in 1983, and then began my career in Finance. I feel fortunate to have learned lending at a time when training and education were more personal and structured than today`s current environment, where much needs to be learned on webinars, etc., without enough opportunity to interact and ask questions.

I have enjoyed a lot of success, and have funded over $1 Billion in Mortgage Loans in my career, and have worked as an underwriter as well as as a loan officer, and the underwriting experience helps me so much in putting together lending solutions for many clients whom were denied by other lenders.

I enjoy high volume lending because this helps to build quick experiences that can be leveraged again and again, and allows for better volume rates and pricing for my clients. During my best year, I funded over 550 loans for over $135 Million.

Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I work with many first time buyers who need down payment assistance. I also work with many Jumbo and Move Up Buyers. I also work with many FHA and VA borrowers. Each has their own needs, and I enjoy helping each to get the best solution on their path to Real Estate Success and Wealth.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I review my clients complete financial situation, and I try to put myself in their seat, considering what questions and concerns I would have, and how best to get my best mortgage option. I make recommendations based on what I think is best for the client, and ask them for feedback and ask if they agree. Sometimes, the feedback allows me to uncover deeper needs.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
I have been in the mortgage business for over 30 years. I have consistently been the #1 loan officer or very near to the top. I have won awards for production and service with Great Western Bank, Preferred Financial Funding, California Federal Bank, Metrociti Mortgage (now Prospect), Augusta Financial, and Pacific Funding. I have won awards including top units, top dollar, customer service, down payment assistance, and other categories. I enjoy looking for new opportunities, and have on several occasions worked on loan officer panels to design, develop, and implement new lending programs and campaigns.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
I recommend to work hard and buy a home as soon as possible. Buy a home at the upper end of your affordability, but do not stretch too far. Do not try to buy a home that is too big or too expensive for your needs. Real Estate Success is a journey, and enjoy each step. Most people will have employment careers stretching over 40 yrs, so buying a home early allows them to build equity and at the end of the journey, have a nice home that is completely paid.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
I feel that many borrowers are overwhelmed with the process, and as a result, they concentrate on looking for homes first before consulting with a mortgage loan officer. The mortgage process is very important, and its best to get in there, get educated, and get prepared. Taking the proper steps to get a mortgage gives the homebuyer and borrower a greater chance of success and will empower them with knowledge and confidence.
Are you active in any local associations or community groups, and at what level? What goals and/or success have you helped these groups achieve?
I volunteer at my church, and I enjoy coaching several sports teams at the school where my daughter is enrolled. I also participate in our local MLS Realtor Associations and attend as much training as possible.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I love my job and I love hard work. I enjoy getting up early, working on loan solutions before the sun is up, then going out into the field to meet clients and real estate agents, and then working on loans till late at night. I never want to say No to the next loan.
