    What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
    The very first step is asking and listening. Since there are well over 150 loan options available, to ensure we are focusing on the very best option, my goal is to ask, listen and then to help guide each individual step by step with the end result being the best loan option to meet their goals and needs, and a smooth process to get there.
    What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
    Statistically most clients stay in a home or a loan for 5 to 7 years. This means an Adjustable Rate Mortgage (ARM) may make sense because typically the interest rate is lower and one would be moving on from that loan prior to the interest rate adjustment. With education on how an ARM adjusts, and ensuring confidence that it is the right loan option for the situation, the ARM is a fantastic way to save money with a lower interest rate and payment. As a homeowner we have experienced both Fixed and Adjustable Rate Mortgages. The Adjustable Rate program met our needs when purchasing, but we are very happy with the peace of mind our now fixed rate mortgage brings. Determining the long term goals of clients will help us to work through whether the ARM is the right loan choice.
    What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
    The process as a whole can be challenging because of the multiple steps and parties involved to get to the finish line. This is why I offer all of my clients an in person meeting to walk through each step from document collection, to explaining escrow accounts, the mortgage program details, payment details, closing costs, a timeline, what happens if you are selling and buying concurrently, and more. In reality we are usually not provided guidance on the basics of life such as credit and budgeting. This is why I start with asking clients questions like "how much do you want to spend each month on your total mortgage payment including property taxes and insurances each month?" Or directing clients to resources if needed such as credit repair assistance. Narrowing down the single most stressful part for most clients will lead us to closing costs. With a review of the Guaranteed Rate Itemization Fee Worksheet, similar to a Loan Estimate form, and my personal "Home Buyer Timeline," all of my clients become more educated than most and can move forward confidently knowing where every penny goes during the home purchase or refinance processes.
    Are you active in any fundraising organizations? What goals and/or success have you helped them achieve?
    As a proud member of the Lions Club, the largest service organization in the world, I am able to help those in need both near and far. Just some of the ways we give back are high school scholarships, local assistance to folks in need whether it be monetarily, with a pair of eyeglasses, building a ramp or cleaning up their yard. Nationally just some of the Lions focus is on preventing blindness, assisting with hearing, and we are likely first in line to help when a tragic event occurs. All of the funds we raise go back to charity. If you couldn't tell, I am proud to be a Lion! My roles vary, and as a Lion you can choose what to participate in. With having a young family I am able to help in small ways with many of the events we hold from the Peace Poster Contest, to Breakfast with Santa, to our Big Raffle, Rail Trail Clean Ups, and more.     Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
    As a younger woman I fell into caring for my cousins, and over the years have remained close with them. At 22, while working full time and attending college full time, I enjoyed the wonderful experience of being a foster parent. What an adventure! Nearly ten years later my husband and I obtained Guardianship of one of my cousins, which grew our family to have a toddler and a teenager at the same time. The sad truth to this situation is there are many children in need of a good home. On a positive note, there are MANY ways to make a difference from donating to DCF Holiday drives like their Christmas Toy Drive, Pajama Drive, volunteering with a Big Brother type organization, the Fresh Air Fund, or opening your home to children in need.
