How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
I have been in the mortgage industry for over 10 years. For the last 3 years I have been only doing reverse mortgages. I love the fact that I help seniors improve their financial situation.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
The reverse mortgage allows seniors 62 years of age and older to draw from the equity in their primary home without paying it back until they are no longer residing in the home. This is a solid, safe loan insured by FHA. The reverse mortgage is a financial tool being used by many seniors to supplement their income during retirement.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The top 3 misconceptions regarding a reverse mortgage is the seniors no longer own their home, the closing fees are too high and this is a complicated loan. The fact is the seniors always are on title to their home, the fees are similar to a standard FHA mortgage and there are no credit or employment qualifications.
