35 years and to give better opportunities to people to have homes.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
What I like is that I have no typical customer. I enjoy serving diverse groups of people and managing various ways to present them to Banks.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I work through a variety of lenders and look at their file from multiple perspectives.

I have served policemen's unions and had the honor of representing quite a many people.
What are the pros and cons of a fixed rate mortgage versus an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM)?
A fixed rate mortgage is excellent for someone with stability who knows they're going to stay in their home for more than 5 years. Adjustable rate mortgages offer better options for people who will be moving on in life.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
Some people have unusual income streams and I do my best to tie them in to a lender that accepts that.
What advice would you give new or first time home buyers?
To manage their expectations in a manner that will be comfortable for their income.
Tell us about a mortgage product that consumers may not be aware of?
There are no secret, special products, it is more a case of knowing which product is best for your customer.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
The mortgage industry has become legitimized, which is best for every borrower. I think we can continue to expect good rates and good options from banks.
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Many people have anxiety regarding the amount of documentation needed to get a mortgage. I always make sure I walk people through the process and tell them the easiest ways to do it.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
Some people think it's very easy but it does take a little work. Many people don't seem to understand the tax write-off process. Often people think they don't qualify or deserve them alone when they do.

I recommend Google and bankrate.com

Google can be an excellent resource as well as the Guaranteed Rate website.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Corresponding well and getting documents fast to make all the difference in the speedy process.
Are you active in any fundraising organizations? What goals and/or success have you helped them achieve?
Over the years, I served a variety of charitable entities including the policeman's widows and orphans fund. And the Better Boys Foundation.

I grew up in downtown Chicago and I'm the proud father of three children. I attended Lakeview High School. I served as a policeman and have worked civically prior to my lending career.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
There's no substitute for helping people getting their first home and working them through all the anxieties and giving them a true sense of value in themselves.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy spending time with my children and I also am quite a lover of gourmet food.
