About Ron

With 40+ years in the Banking Industry, Ron brings a tremendous set of knowledge and skills beyond just mortgages. Ron joined the mortgage industry in 2006. His outstanding people skills are evidenced by being named a ýConnecticut Top Mortgage Professionalý by Connecticut Magazine for the past three years running.

Ron is fluent in the full range of mortgage products as well as Reverse Mortgages. He has processed more than 100 of these loans as a Mortgage Loan Officer. He does not ýsellý these products as much as fully educates clients and their families as to how they work. The final decision is theirs and his extensive experience helps move them through the process.

Ron feels that, in all mortgage situations, setting expectations of the client is critical, specifically in the area of required documentation. Each client receives an overview of document requirements so they are comfortable knowing what is to come in the loan process and avoiding ýsurprisesý.

ýMy greatest satisfaction comes when homebuyers receive the keys to their new house. Second to that would be the client who has been told repeatedly that they cannot qualify for a loan and we are sitting at the closing table.ý

Ron holds a BS in Finance from Central Connecticut State University and is a graduate of the Williams College School of Banking. He is a long time Board member of the United Way of Southington holding various Officer Positions. Having joined Rotary in 1979, he is Past President and has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award by its members. He has been the Treasurer of the Southington South Little League since 1998 and remains active in the community.

Ron interview Q&A

How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
Ron moved from 35 years of Retail Banking to the mortgage business 10 years ago. He has been named by Connecticut Magazine as "Top Mortgage Professional" for the past 5 years running.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
I have been lending money since before there were credit reports. When I entered the mortgage industry, I was floored by "no income verification" and "stated income" loans. It was the wild west and it made no sense to me. Mortgages now are underwritten to show the ability to repay. The paperwork can be tedious at times but it's my job, along with my processors to get you through the process with very little pain.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
The best advice I can give clients for a smooth process is, we do not ask for unnecessary documents. If something is requested, don't ask why, ask "when do you need it". You will sail through the process.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I enjoy golfing and working in the garden. Two of my boys now own houses and I love fixing things around their homes. Sometimes, I even get to fix things around my house!
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
I love to ride. I've owned my 1974 Harley Sportster XLCH for 40 years and it still purrs like a kitten.
