How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
22 years. A fascination with helping people make the right choices about the biggest purchase in their life was my biggest inspiration.
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
My customers are from all walks of life: seasoned professionals, veterans, young first-time home buyers. Questions are usually: how hard is the process? What is my down payment? What are closing costs? What is MI?
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I ask them questions such as: What type of home are you looking for? How much of a down payment do you have? What are your plans in the next 3, 5, 10 years?
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
I have the following awards: Rookie of the year, Top Producer, and Regional Manager of the Year.
Tell us about a specific challenging borrowing situation and how you got the mortgage closed and funded.
No loan is difficult if the correct questions are asked up front!
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
It changes every three years or so. What doesn’t change is the integrity of the professional doing the loan. In the future, technology will make things even easier than they are now!
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
Customers usually find understanding what MI truly is. I help them with this.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The top 2 misconceptions are: 1. The steps in the process will be difficult 2. too much paperwork needed, 3. MI is hard to understand
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
Be up front with me and ask questions.
Are you active in any fundraising organizations? What goals and/or success have you helped them achieve?
I support many charities that support veterans and law enforcement officers.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Getting people into their dream home and doing so with a smooth and enjoyable process provides me wit the most satisfaction in my job.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I teach self-defense classes.
