How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?
You might say that the mortgage business found me 16 years ago. My education in Finance and background in sales provided the perfect spring board to dive into the mortgage industry. And when the opportunity to combine my love of numbers and problem solving in a service that really helped my fellow man........the mortgage business quickly became a comfortable fit and I excelled!
Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
This is a trick question because I don't have a "Typical" client. Every individual has a different borrower profile and different reasons for buying or refinancing a home and I am focused on treating them as such. I do $100K loans and loans up to $3M and one thing never changes........The most important part of my job is understanding my client(s) and what they are trying to accomplish. I never make assumptions about knowing what you want or what's best for you. I think that old saying about making assumptions is right!
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
I ask good questions.....My clients answer and I listen. The single MOST important step of the mortgage process is to take the time to understand your unique goals and the nuances of your particular situation. I can't possibly provide you with the highest level of service without clearly understanding your objectives, so I make sure clear communication is established right from the beginning.
How long have you been in the mortgage business? What awards have you won?
I've spent 16 wonderful years in the Mortgage Business and there was never a dull moment. Oddly, when I think of my accomplishments I think of a great quote by a woman named Maya Angelou....."I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Personally, what matters most to me is how I make my clients feel when they do business with me. It's the focal point of everything I do, so I do everything I can to make them feel special.......because they are.
Tell us about a mortgage product that consumers may not be aware of?
I frequently utilize a "not so well known" product called Single Premium Mortgage Insurance with my first time home buyers. If my clients are well qualified, they can put as little as 3% down payment on a conventional fixed rate loan. The net result is ONE, low fixed rate mortgage. No second mortgages and no monthly mortgage insurance payment.....A fantastic program that saves my clients thousands of dollars!!
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
I make it clear to my clients from the onset that their cooperation is critical to the success of our transaction. The "good old days" of mortgage lending are well behind us, and today's underwriting requirements demand a high level of trust and integrity between mortgage professionals and their clients. I encourage and develop that trust with my borrowers and it consistently produces the results we both want!!
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
My work still puts a smile on my face after 14 years. I have the great pleasure of helping people achieve their dreams of home ownership and financial health in general. Every client becomes a relationship that creates value. That's why I am here.....to create value for others through service!
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Along with being a mortgage banker, I am an avid cyclist that loves to explore. And when the weather turns I hit the slopes! I'm a bit of a health nut and I try not to take myself too seriously.
